Field Stone Retaining Wall

We dug out the trench, tamped down, leveled the soil, filled it with a thin layer of sand, a few inches of praver gravel and then starting the process of laying the larger field stone for the base of this dry stone wall. The wall is half way complete and looks great! We used two ton pallets of New England field stone. The retaining wall will host raised flower and vegetable beds.
